Stenhouse to run the Daytona 500

Stenhouse to run the Daytona 500: Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who won the 2011 Nationwide Series title, will compete in the 2012 Daytona 500 in Roush Fenway Racing's #6 Ford. The team does not expect to run the unsponsored car for the full season but is locked into the first five races based on owners points from 2011 when the car was driven by David Ragan. The only race confirmed for now is the Daytona 500. The team currently does not have a sponsor for the race, team spokesman Kevin Woods said. Stenhouse will participate in the NASCAR test next week at Daytona International Speedway to prepare for the Daytona 500. Whether he runs a full Nationwide schedule in 2012 has not been solidified, Woods said.(SceneDaily)(

No Problem and NO SURPRISE about the news.

Kinda figure if they run the (I believe allowed) 7 races (to allow Rookie of the year) with Roush but they are able to get sponsorship STENHOUSE WILL BE IN THE #6 CAR. (which I am sure was previously planned)

Great news! Maybe they'll be able to piece together some sponsorship and just let him run the whole season.

I think that might be their plan. You can bet they are working real hard to achieve just that. Did you really think Roush would give up "JUST LIKE THAT" First they had to free up the #6 car. Now let's see where they go from there. Roush would not replace Ragan just like that. Throw Ragan out of the car and put in Stenhouse. He wouldn't have done that. JMO>

If they get sponsorship (I believe they will) that #6 car had to be without a driver. Hoping they come up with a SPONSOR. That's the plan

I HOPE all of the above works out but it will come as a surprise if it does. I see them running the first 5 races because of the lock in via points. After that I expect it will be a hit and miss situation. The way I see it, there WAS a better chance of them getting a full season sponsor for Ragan because he (1) has won a race and (2) is more well known than Stenhouse but that didn't happen so I don't see it happening for Ricky. Again, I HOPE it does but don't expect it. The sponsorship bucket is pretty dry these days and by this point most companies have already allocated their advertising dollars for the coming year.

Being that most of the #6 cup team has been eliminated, do you think that they will call the #06 NW team as the backup for Stenhouse's DAYTONA RACE ?
