By request, DRIVER SURVIVOR is back for the 2011-2012 off season!
If you've never player driver survivor with us at Ford Fans before, it's super easy. All you do is VOTE in various polls posted throughout the off season. Last driver remain when Daytona rolls around will be the FORD FANS Driver Survivor!
Things will be laid out quite differently this year, however. I have worked on a number of rules changes and how things will work.
First of all, we will have essentially two winners - last FORD driver standing and the last "other" driver standing. I think it's safe to assume that a FORD driver will win, so that's the reasoning for throwing another driver in there ... just for fun, kind of a "best of the rest" category.
Next, for the first several polls, drivers will be divided on manufacturer lines. We will be eliminating drivers quickly in the first several weeks.
Each poll will last approximately one week ... polls will close on Friday afternoons at 5 PM, and new polls will be started each weekend. (There will be no poll for the week between Christmas and New Year's 12/26-12/30)

HOW IT WORKS
Each round will be structured differently, so be sure to read the poll question and post carefully.
For the first round, we will narrow the field considerably. We are starting with 49 drivers, grouped into 5 categories. After round 1, we will reduce each category from its current standing all the way down to 7. (Dodge is the exception - because they have only 3 drivers, we will simply eliminate ONE Dodge driver in round 1.)
After round 1, we will have 30 drivers remaining.
Week 2 shrinks the field again, from 7 drivers in each category down to only 5.
Week 3 goes from 5 down to 4 drivers per category.
Week 4 goes from 4 to 3 per category.
Week 5 is when all 5 categories come together as 1. At this point, there will be 13 drivers remaining (3 from Ford, Chevy, Toyota and Nationwide as well as 1 Dodge driver). In week 5, 3 drivers will be eliminated.
Week 6 will drop the field from 10 to 7 members
Week 7 brings us from 7 to 5 remaining drivers.
Week 8 brings us from 5 to 3 drivers remaining.
Week 9 drops from 3 to 2 drivers.
And, finally, week 10, we end up with only ONE DRIVER SURVIVOR standing.
