LIA: Manufacturer Dance Continues At Bristol

When playing a NASCAR trivia game sometime in the future, one might be asked which NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team ran four different brands of trucks in the same season.

The SS Green Light team will complete the manufacturers sweep Wednesday night when 2007 and 2009 Modified champion Donny Lia gets behind the wheel of the No. 07 SS Green Light Racing Toyota in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Lia has driven Dodges, Chevrolets and now a Toyota while teammate Jason White has piloted both Fords and Dodge trucks this season as the team looks to find the winning combination each week.

Lia is no stranger to the Bristol Motor Speedway, having won the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 last year in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at the tricky half-mile track. Lia looks forward to running the Toyota on Wednesday night.

“We re going with a good truck and that’s the most important thing to me,” the New York native said. “I know the history of the truck and it’s a real good piece.”

Lia and the No. 07 team are still in search of their first top-10 of the 2010 season.

“Our goal is the same as the last couple races and that is to be there at the end of the race and get a solid finish," Lia said. "We’ve had some terrible luck mainly with tire issues that has cost us several good finishes. Last week at Darlington we got bit again with a flat right front tire and that cost us a sure top-10 run.”

Lia has finished in the top 10 in three of his eight NCWTS starts on tracks less than a mile in length and he has one previous start in the NCWTS at Bristol, running in the top 10 for most of the night back in 2008 before a late-race incident bottled the field and dropped him to a 12th-place finish.

“I just love the track and winning there last year gives me a lot of confidence,” Lia said. “We just need to get through 200 laps and not tear anything up and we’ll get a good finish.”

SS Green Light General Manager Bobby Dotter supports team’s decision to add a Toyota to the team's stable.

“With the economy the way it is, there is a lot good equipment that is idle. Our goal is to put our drivers in the best equipment we can each week," he said. "The Truck Series does not have the level of factory support that we had a few years ago. It’s up to the teams to make it happen on the track.”

There are 40 trucks are on the entry list for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200.
