    AND: Richard Petty Motorsports will make a "driver and sponsor announcement" Tuesday at 1:00pm/et, and sources say the team will announce ... that Marcos Ambrose will drive the team's #9 Fords next season, replacing Kasey Kahne. Stanley Tools - current sponsor of Elliott Sadler's #19 Ford at RPM - will reportedly sponsor Ambrose's 2011 effort.(Sirius Speedway)(8-17-2010)
    UPDATE: In preparation for the 2011 season, Richard Petty Motorsports announced that driver Marcos Ambrose has signed a multiyear agreement with the organization to drive the #9 Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Long-time RPM sponsor Stanley Black & Decker will be the primary sponsor of the #9 team. "I'm very excited to join Richard Petty Motorsports," said Ambrose. "It's an incredible honor to be able to race for a legend like The King and be a part of this organization. I'm also happy to be back with Ford Racing. The #9 team has been a very successful team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. With the support of Ford and everyone at RPM, I believe we can continue that tradition of success. I'm also excited to join forces with Stanley."(RPM), no word on how many years or races per season the deals are for.(8-17-2010)

    Great news!

    Marcos said today that there were some more "big announcements" to come from RPM, but he couldn't reveal any details.

    Both Petty and Gillett have said the same thing. I hope it is a younger 'developmental' type of driver being added to the mix. I saw Cassell's name thrown out the other day. I wouldn't mind Amerola, Allgier or Cassell as the third guy.
