    Menard officially gone

    From Jayski:

Menard moving to Richard Childress Racing: Richard Childress Racing and Menards, the third-largest home improvement company in the United States, have signed a multi-year partnership agreement for the Eau Claire, Wisconsin-based company to become the primary sponsor of RCR's fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team beginning in 2011 with driver Paul Menard. "Paul has developed into a very good race car driver, and we see his move to RCR next year as an opportunity for him to continue that progress," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. "At the same time, we feel Paul will contribute to the continued progress and success of RCR. Paul will fit in perfectly with our team of drivers at RCR, and they are all looking forward to working with him. We're also very proud to be aligned with Menards, one of the great family business success stories in American history." Further announcements about the program will be forthcoming.(RCR)(8-11-2010)

I wish Paul was staying- they've made some improvements and he'd be higher up at RPM. But he does have a point, RCR is doing great this year, but Menard will be the 4th guy over there regardless. So much changes in so little time can't be good either.

See, I don't know. He isn't much of a threat to win or run top five or ten, but he is a steady driver. I think having Slugger helped him tremendously - and I would love to see him stick with RPM. I hope he doesn't follow Menard.

I don't blame Menard or Kahne for wanting to jump ship. If you have a chance to drive for Hendrick, Childress or Gibbs, you jump on it. Those guys are at the top of the game. I hope we have a strong three car team. If so, we'll be fine. We might even go to four if Sadler sticks around with sponsorship.

Menard to run #27 in 2011: Paul Menard, who will leave Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of the 2010 season for Richard Childress Racing, ,will run the car #27 in 2011, after running #98 from 2009-2010 and #15 from 2006-2008. See an image of Menard's 2011 scheme on my #27 Team Schemes page.(10-27-2010)

I agree, that's why at first I didn't blame Kasey for leaving. Then I lost respect for him after the way he handled adversity at Charlotte.

OR just Maybe he saw the writing on the wall and knew what was going down at RPM and took the first chance he could to get the heck out?? ~just a thought

That's still no excuse for refusing to get back in the car at Charlotte. NO EXCUSE.
