According to the Martinsville entry list, David Gilliland will drive the 37 this weekend with Kevin Conway moving to the 38.

The 38 is pretty solidly in the top-35 (70 point cushion), while the 37 has only a 9 point cushion on 36th. So, I'd say this move is aimed at making sure they all stay in the top-35, and they feel that Gilliland has a better shot at that than Conway...

Frankly, I'd say he only has a slight bit more of a shot, but I guess the team will take the best they can get.

You guys rip on David pretty hard, but, really, he's been doing a pretty good job in that car.

It's not like it was a huge drop for him. He was 31st in points in his car and he is going to a car that is 35th in points.

With the way things are going as far as cars actually showing up, all three of these cars should be good bets to make the field each week regardless of whether they are in the top 35 or have to race their way in.

What, only 2 cars have been sent home each of the last several weeks. It isn't like 50-55 cars are showing up hoping to make the show each week.

That is a true point, but Conway was the SLOWEST car in everything at Bristol, and had to fall back on his OWNER POINTS to make the show. Without being in the top-35, Conway would have GONE HOME at Bristol.

I'm not trying to rip on Gilliland, in fact, I like him. When he has the equipment (the #21 last year, for instance), he can get you a pretty decent run.

All I was saying is that due to the cars, he really won't do too much more than Conway.

The 37 with Conway has by far been the slowest car most of the year- I'm talking several MPHs off even the next slowest car ahead of him.

And again today, Conway is the slowest car of everyone on the track. They definitely needed to do the swap between Gilliland and Conway to get them both in.
