Outback to sponsor Stewart-Haas next season: Stewart-Haas Racing is adding yet another sponsor to its lineup on the #39 team driven by Ryan Newman. Outback Steakhouse, a restaurant chain based in Tampa, Fla., will serve as primary sponsor on the #39 in at least two Sprint Cup Series races in 2012, multiple sources said. A formal announcement of the sponsorship addition is expected Friday at Phoenix International Raceway.(Charlotte Observer)(11-8-2011)

Quicken Loans to sponsor Newman: UPDATE: Stewart-Haas Racing has obtained a new sponsor which will help fill a sponsorship hole on its #39 Chevy next season. Quicken Loans Inc., headquartered in Detroit and the largest online mortgage lender in the country, is expected to serve as primary sponsor on the #39 driven by Ryan Newman in at least half a dozen Sprint Cup Series races beginning in 2012, multiple sources confirmed. SHR has scheduled a news conference Tuesday at its headquarters in Kannapolis, N.C., to announce the new partnership.(Charlotte Observer), see an image of the car on my #39 team paint schemes page.(10-29-2011)
UPDATE: Quicken Loans Inc., the nation's largest online retail mortgage lender, has formed a partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing. Quicken Loans will be the primary sponsor of SHR's #39 team and driver Ryan Newman for nine races in 2012, and when not serving as a primary sponsor, will be an associate sponsor. Additionally, Quicken Loans will be an associate sponsor on the #14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevy of Stewart throughout the 2012 Sprint Cup season. To kick off this partnership, Newman and the #39 team will carry a special paint scheme to highlight the upcoming Quicken Loans Carrier Classic during this weekend's Sprint Cup event at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The Quicken Loans Carrier Classic pits #No. 1 North Carolina Tarheels against the Michigan State Spartans in an unprecedented season-opener to the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball schedule, as the game will be played on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Carl Vinson on Nov. 11, 2011 - Veterans Day.(Stewart Haas Racing)(11-1-2011)

Sponsorship is looking pretty good there :D Best that its been since the team has been formed. As soon as the 39 has a sponsor for all 36 races without Haas Automotive, they can take a serious look at expanding to three full time cars if the third one needs the Haas sponsorship. Although I think godaddy might be willing to sponsor Danica all the way. Good news for Newman fans :D

Wish it was looking good for RFR on the sponsor front. Don't understand the attractiveness of Newman over Kenseth (a champion) or Ragan (a young, up and coming talent). Not a knock on Newman just shocked to see them adding multiple sponsors when most teams can't. (even RCR found nothing for Bowyer)

Why would anyone on this forum care much about Ryan Newman?

Because Dog is a Newman fan.
...actually, I like Ryan too. I met him a few times back when he first started driving Alltel sponsored Taurus' for Penske. Nice guy!
Stewart's 3rd team, sponsored by godaddy, is pretty much a given, as soon as Danica is deemed 'ready' for Cup.

Why Roush has had such difficulty finding sponsorship for his teams, in all three series, throughout the years has always been a mystery to me. :~:
...you'd think the driver lineup he's got now (and had in recent history), as well as the teams' overall success on the track, would be appealing to potential sponsors.

From what I've been told by some marketing guys at multiple past sponsors, Jack asks for alot more money than others

I don't know that it's quite that cut and dried but one thing is for sure, Roush needs better negotiators.

I've heard the pricing thing too. And, during the recession, many teams have accepted much less than in the past, apparently Jack has also been reluctant to take a lower price for his teams.

I have to imagine that at least Hendrick charges more than Roush, and they are fully funded for next year.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't heard that one before, but I guess that WOULD explain the difference between teams like Stewart-Haas, who will accept a bunch of 1-2 race deals and associate sponsorships to piece together a full season...Hendrick has Mr.5X, Jeffie won had a longtime relationship and won a lot of races and Championships for DuPont and Pepsi throughout the years, and NA$CAR's most "popular" driver (thanks to his last name), so I don't expect them to go sponsorless anytime soon....I don't expect Matt to go without a sponsor for very long, but as Andrew pointed out, with the economy the way it is today, it might be a little more difficult getting the #6 program back on track unless they were willing to lower the asking price to fit into a company's advertising budget. Hope it all works out.

Well for Ragan, Kenseth, and Bowyer- they all needed an entire season of support. Ryan only needs a few. I think I counted about 5 races next season might have the Haas logo. If QuickenLoans & Outback would sponsor them they still would need sponsorship for 25 other races and the exhibition races. That's not enough for Jack or Richard.

Secondly, Ragan is a fair driver that can do well on restrictor plates. Honestly-- like Michael Waltrip. But Mikey has popularity his side--something David lacks.

Bowyer had a 25 race deal with 5 Hour. He needed only 10 races.

Not going to argue with you over Ragan, but I disagree. He's 100x the driver Waltrip ever was.

Was 5 hour energy talking with Richard?
And also there are other things to consider such as how much is the close association with Tony value to the company?
How far into the process of sponsorship planning were the two companies?

Ok we'll agree to strongly disagree.

5 Hour was committed to Bowyer. Would go wherever he wanted.
